I’m back from a week in New Orleans, and I couldn’t have had more fun (or slept any less). RT 2014 was back, bigger and badder, and I wasn’t going to miss a second of it. I got to N’awlins on Tuesday evening and meet a couple of author friends for dinner. Wednesday was a brunch with dozens of fellow YA authors and a day full of panels, and on Thursday I had my own panel to sit on and a huge Avon party to attend. Saturday was teen day, complete with a giant book fair, speed reading for the teens, and a teen party in the evening. Mixed in all of that was yummy meals with authorly pals, trips to Cafe du Monde for beignets, and creepy cemetery tours.
Since I know nothing beats a good pic, I managed to snag a few for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy the montage, and then enter the giveaway below!
Beth Revis and I doing an “usie” under Lauren Destefano’s instruction.
ARCs of FIRE & FLOOD were available in the Goody Room at RT. I heart Scholastic for sending these.
Rachel Vincent and I had a fun lunch on the second day. She showed me her beautiful upcoming covers…and ordered gumbo. Don’t pretend you didn’t want to know about the gumbo.
I sat on a panel with these four lovely peeps. I don’t have a pic to share because I was too busy, ya know, speaking.
Here’s the whole gang at the YA brunch. Lots of heavy-hitting writers in this pic. Every one of them super sweet and charming.
THE WARRIOR playing card at the Entangled Publishing Candies and Spoons party. RT-goers get fierce at this game!
The YA beauties I picked up at the Avon party. Let the drooling begin.
I ain’t gonna lie. This may have happened. It’s New Orleans. It’s a Hurricane. It’s a must.
Brunch with fellow YA authors, from left to right, Page Morgan (THE LOVELY AND THE LOST), Terri Brown (BORN OF ILLUSION), and yours truly. We ate at the infamous Mother’s Restaurant before the giant book fair.
Signing books at the Giant Book Fair.
My signing buddy at the Giant Book Fair, YA Author J.A. Souders (RENEGADE).
YA Author Tessa Gratton (THE LOST SON) sat next to me during the YA speed reading, and Jennifer Lynn-Barnes attacked her when she read for too long.
A teen holding her copy of THE COLLECTOR. Numerous copies were stuffed into grab bags for the teens to take. Thanks, Entangled Teen!
Hanging out at the teen day party with YA Authors Amy Tintera (REBOOT), Bethany Hagen (LANDRY PARK), Michelle Krys (HEXED)…and then there’s me. 😉
More copies of FIRE & FLOOD available exclusively for teens. Thanks, Scholastic!
