After reading the amazing blurb for Author Marni Bates’s first YA novel, AWKWARD, I simply had to dig into this girl’s mind and ask her some oh-so-serious questions. Enjoy her fabulous answers below:
1) Would you rather be too hot or too cold?
Too cold! Probably because I love nothing more than waking up snuggly under a billion blankets and spending all day in bed with YA and romance novels. If it’s freezing outside I can do just that without people pointing out my high level of laziness. Plus, Oregon in the winter is worth the chill, especially when the fog rolls in and my college campus looks like something out of a Bronte novel.
2) Hot chocolate–big marshmallows or small?
For hot chocolate, I’m a small marshmallow fan. But I like about a billion of them. I hate to admit it, but I am a total marshmallow fiend. Big marshmallows are best consumed while procrastinating on novels though. Brain food, naturally.
3) What is your favorite type of tree?
Growing up, I loved watching the color change on the maple trees down the street from my house. But after a trip to Cambodia, I’m leaning towards the strangler trees there. The way they have grown into a living architectural aspect of the temple complex…absolutely stunning!
4) I am forcing you to punch someone, anyone. Who do you choose to punch?
I can only choose one person? Really? Because there are a lot of contenders for this . . . yikes! I think I have to choose this guy from my freshman year of college who lived across the hall and shunned me every chance he got. Although I think personal success is the best form of revenge. Now that I have incredible friends, colleague (and book deals) I just feel sorry for the punk. And I silently gloat every now and then. That’s pretty great.
5) Would you rather have a live-in maid, or live-in chef?
Honestly, I would pick a live-in accountant. I absolutely loathe dealing with money issues and forms of all kinds. Credit card bills give me panic attacks. But between the two: live-in chef definitely. I’m comfortable with my level of messiness but my culinary skills are non-existent. Macaroni and cheese can only go so far, I’m discovering.
