My hubby and I celebrated NYE in style…if you count style as plastic cups of champagne, potato skins, and several rounds of cut-throat Taboo with friends. It wasn’t exactly the dancing-on-tables partying I may (or may not) have participated in ten years ago, but it was a great time nonetheless.

Now that it’s a new year–2012–and I’m nearly a year older (my birthday is creep-crawlin’ up on my ass), I thought it was high time to reminisce. I’ve already compiled a list of my favorite YA books of 2011, but now I want to pay tribute to the books of my childhood; the wild and wicked stories that kept me awake long after Dad had threatened to beat me bloody, and Mom had promised to do nothing to stop him. So here it is, guys. The books that made me fall in love with books:

WAIT TILL HELEN COMES
by Mary Downing Hawn

THE ENTIRE GOOSEBUMPS SERIES
by R.L. Stine

THE THIEF OF ALWAYS
By Clive Barker

THE GIVER
By Lois Lowry

AND EVERY SINGLE THING
CHRISTOPHER PIKE EVER WROTE

THESE WERE A LOT OF THE BOOKS/AUTHORS I READ AS A KID. WHAT ABOUT YOU?!
