As an author, a book festival is both exciting and terrifying. Exciting because it’s a chance to meet readers and fangirl over other authors’ work. Terrifying because you stare at your inbox for weeks waiting for an invitation to sit on a panel. When it comes to something like Austin Teen Book Festival, that email may never come. Let’s face it, AustinTBF is one of the biggest teen book festivals in the nation with over 35 authors and 5,000 rabid fans.

Thirty-five authors may seem like a lot. But trust me, it’s not. Not when you’re perusing the teen fiction aisle at B&N and realizing just how many players there are in the game. Publicists apply for their authors to get into ATBF months before the event takes place. And then…you wait.

For me, my email came a few days ago. “We’d like to invite you to sit on a panel at the Austin Teen Book Festival.” FREAK OUT! “Also, judging by Dante’s personality, we think you’d be a great person to moderate your panel!” FREAK OUT EVEN MORE!

As if it isn’t enough of an honor to hang with such an amazing lineup of authors, I can’t believe I was chosen to moderate. I truly can’t wait for this festival, and hope I’ll see many of you there. To learn more about the event, click here.

As always, thanks for all the love and support, guys! 🙂
